    Biography Daniel Andrews

    Daniel lives in Mulgrave with his wife Catherine, children Noah, Grace and Joseph and their two cats.

    Noah and Grace attend the local catholic primary school and Joseph started four-year-old kindergarten this year.

    Since entering parliament in 2002, Daniel has devoted his time to working to improve the services that are important to all Victorians in his electorate and throughout Victoria.

    Daniel is genuinely concerned that Victorian families have access to the best possible health care, that Victoria is a safe place to live and work and that schools and the invaluable education they provide are properly funded and supported by government.

    Daniel has held many different positions since becoming a member of the Victorian Parliament. His first role was as the Parliamentary Secretary for Health, December 2002 – December 2006.

    He then became the Minister for Gaming, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Minister Assisting the Premier on Multicultural Affairs December 2006 – August 2007. In August 2007 until November 2010, he was the Minister for Health.

    Before being elected, Daniel was Assistant State Secretary and Deputy Campaign Director of the Victorian Branch of the Australian Labor Party. 

    He was honoured to be elected unopposed as the Leader of the Victorian Labor Party after the 2010 state election.

    He currently serves as the Shadow Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Multicultural Affairs and Children and Young Adults.
