Tim Holding completed a law degree at the University of Melbourne.
He was elected MLA for Springvale September 1999. The electorate was abolished in 2002, and he was elected MLA for Lyndhurst November 2002, and re-elected in November 2006 and November 2010.
Party Positions: National President, Australian Young Labor 1994. Past ALP State and National Conference Delegate.
Tim has held several different ministeries over his years in parliament, including being Minister for Manufacturing and Export, Minister for Financial Services Industry 2002-05, Minister for Police & Emergency Services, Minister for Corrections January 2005-December 2006. Minister for Finance, WorkCover and the Transport Accident Commission and Minister for Tourism (known as Minister for Tourism and Major Events since August 2007) since December 2006, Minister for Information and Communication Technology December 2006-August 2007 and Minister for Water since August 2007.
Before entering parliament, Tim was an electorate officer for Mrs Jan Wilson MLA 1992-95, Assistant Adviser to the Minister for Defence 1995-96 and an electorate officer for Senator Robert Ray 1996-99.
He also served as a Councillor for the City of Waverley 1992-94 and in the military, 126 Signals Sqn, 1 Commando Regiment 1991-93.
His memberships include Geelong Football Club; Noble Park Football Social Club; Australia-China Friendship Society; Springvale Benevolent Society.
His interests include football, military history and film.
