Chapter 7: Building Stronger Communities
Labor is working to build strong communities that provide a network of support and generate opportunities for Victorians. Healthy, vibrant, and safe communities will ensure Victoria is a great place to live and raise a family.
Labor is committed to establishing new neighbourhood houses and community centres; making public and social housing more accessible; increasing affordable private housing; supporting local arts and sporting facilities; and providing better and faster planning decisions.
Since 1999, the Labor Government has invested more than $1 billion in the acquisition, redevelopment and improvement of social housing for low-income families and contributed more than $100 million towards over 1,300 community projects across Victoria.
