McClelland College shines with $4.5 million boost

Students at McClelland College are benefiting from a $4.5 million boost in Brumby Labor Government and Rudd Government funding to improve their school’s education facilities.

Education Minister Bronwyn Pike today officially opened new state-of-the-art facilities at McClelland College.

“Education is our Government’s number one priority and we’re building better schools in partnership with the Commonwealth so children can do better at school,” Ms Pike said.

“McClelland College can now enjoy new facilities and be proud of their improved school site.”

“We are continuing to invest in schools through the biggest rebuilding program in Victoria’s history so students can be educated in bright and modern classrooms.”

Formerly known as Karingal Park Secondary College, the Frankston-based school now boasts a new VCE centre, a Year 10 centre made up of 13 classrooms, two information technology spaces, a library, a senior student lounge and locker bays.

The college’s staff administration area has also been renovated.

“It’s great to see students enjoying fresh modern learning spaces, a lounge retreat for senior students, new library and state-of-the-art information technology areas,” Ms Pike said.

The Brumby Labor Government has invested $2.7 million in the project while the Federal Government contributed $1.8 million.

Member for Frankston Alistair Harkness said students at McClelland College can now enjoy new facilities and be proud of their improved school site.

“These new facilities will enable Frankston students with a great learning environment now and in the future,” Dr Harkness said.

“McClelland College is another example of the action being taken to deliver the best possible education to every Victorian student.”
