Students of Cranbourne West Primary School are reaping the benefits of a $5 million school makeover, thanks to Brumby Labor Government and Rudd Government funding boost.
Education Minister Bronwyn Pike today officially opened the revamped Cranbourne West Primary School in Melbourne’s eastern growth corridor.
“We’re building better schools in partnership with the Commonwealth, so children can do better at school,” Ms Pike said.“Cranbourne West Primary School is just one example of what we’re
delivering across the entire state as part of the Victorian Schools Plan.”
“Cranbourne West Primary School is just one example of what we’re delivering across the entire state as part of the Victorian Schools Plan – the Brumby Labor Government’s $1.9 billion commitment to rebuild, renovate, or extend every government school across the state.
“Good schools are crucial to the liveability of our expanding communities and our Government is taking action to ensure our children are given the best start in life through a high-quality education.”
The Brumby Labor Government funded $3.1 million towards the school’s redevelopment, with the Federal Government committing $1.7 million. The local community helped raise $196,000 to invest in gallery spaces for two classrooms.
Ms Pike said 172 schools in the Southern Metropolitan Region have enjoyed upgrades worth a massive $628 million under the Victorian Schools Plan.
“Other schools in this growth corridor are also enjoying upgrades to their schools and providing students with access to the very best in modern learning facilities, which in turn generates the very best opportunities for our students,” she said.
Member for Cranbourne Jude Perera said it was great to see the 765 students at Cranbourne West Primary School enjoying seven new classrooms, a new music and physical education facility, new student toilets and a new staff administration area.
“I would like to thank and commend the local school community for their enthusiasm and commitment to this project,” he said.
“These state-of-the-art facilities are an example of what can be achieved when everyone works together for the benefit of Victoria’s children.”
