About John Brumby

John Brumby has been a member of the Victorian Parliament since 1993.

Prior to serving in Victorian Parliament, he was the Federal Member for Bendigo and Chief of Staff to the Federal Minister for Resources and Tourism.

Before entering politics, the Premier worked as a consultant to the banking and finance industry after working for the Victorian Teachers Union and as a secondary school teacher.

John is married and has three children.

Location: Broadmeadows District is a metropolitan electorate approximately 12 kilometres north of Melbourne.
Area: 46 square kilometres.
Region:    Northern Metropolitan Region
Suburbs: Broadmeadows, Campbellfield, Coolaroo and Dallas. Parts of the suburbs of Fawkner, Glenroy, Hadfield, Roxburgh Park,Somerton and Westmeadows.

Features: Broadmeadows District is a residential and industrial electorate, with rapid development in the north. Features include recreation reserves, the Northern Memorial Park, the Kangan and Batman Institute of TAFE and the Broadmeadows military area.
