About Jacinta Allan Jacinta was born and grew up in Bendigo. She studied at Catholic College Bendigo before completing her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) at La Trobe University, Bendigo. born and grew up in Bendigo
She is the fourth generation of her family to have lived in the region and follows a proud family tradition of active involvement in the local community.
While studying, Ms Allan worked at Coles supermarket and then started work with the Commonwealth Department of Industrial Relations after graduating.
Before entering Parliament in 1999, Jacinta worked in the office of Steve Gibbons, Federal Member for Bendigo and for two years before that she worked in the office of Neil O’Keefe, Federal Member for Burke.
Community involvement has been a central part of Jacinta’s life. She has been a member of the Committee of Management for the Bendigo Community Health Service and the Loddon Mallee Women’s Health Service.

Location: Bendigo East District is an urbanised rural electorate located north-west of Melbourne.
Area: 2,086 square kilometres.
Region: Northern Victoria Region
Towns: Axedale, Bendigo, Bendigo East, Bridgewater, Epsom, Flora Hill, Goornong, Huntly, Kennington, Mandurang, Marong, Quarry Hill, Raywood, Spring Gully, Strathdale, Strathfieldsaye and White Hills. Parts of the Bendigo suburbs of Eaglehawk, Golden Square, Long Gully and Kangaroo Flat.
Features: Bendigo East District includes the western end of Lake Eppalock, the Bendigo Aerodrome and the Bendigo racecourse. The city of Bendigo was a major gold mining centre in the nineteenth century and is a popular tourist destination. Industries include mining, dairy and sheep farming, fruit growing, manufacturing and tourism.
