About Geoff Howard
Geoff Howard was elected to the Parliament of Victoria in 1999 as the Member for Ballarat East.
Before entering Parliament Mr Howard was a Secondary Teacher teaching in the Maths/Science area.
He was also a Ballarat City Councillor from 1989 to 1999 and Mayor of the City in 1993/94.
On his election to parliament he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Environment and he later served as Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture.
He now holds the role of Chair of the Parliamentary Education and Training Committee.
Geoff is proud to stand on his and the Labor Governments record of delivering for the community of Ballarat East.
Some of the major achievements that Geoff and the Labor Government have delivered are: new schools for Napoleons and Trentham, major upgrades at Ballan, Mount Pleasant, Buninyong, Tylden and Creswick Primary Schools.
Major upgrades at Ballarat Health Services, Daylesford and Trentham Hospitals and new Police Stations for Kyneton and Gordon.
Natural gas to Creswick. Support for the Buninyong Recreation Centre, an indoor Aquatic Centre for Kyneton and ARC Recreation Centre in Daylesford.
The Regional Fast Rail project and the delivery of more bus services, along with safety works and upgrades on the Midland Hwy between Geelong and Daylesford and major support for local jobs in the IT area at the State Revenue Office, the new IBM Data Centre and the Global Innovations Centre at the University of Ballarat Technology Park at Mt Helen also add to these achievements.”
