About Bob Cameron Bob Cameron was first elected to Bendigo West in the 1996 state election and has held the seat ever since. He is married with one daughter and two sons.
Born in Robinvale, he completed his secondary education at Bendigo Senior High School before gaining a law degree at the University of Melbourne in 1984. Bob was a successful Barrister and Solicitor before being elected MLA for Bendigo West.
As a parliamentarian Bob has used both his country background and his legal background to good effect. While in opposition he was Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition for Agriculture and Rural Affairs 1996–99. He has also been a member of the Legislative Assembly Privileges Committee since 1998.
In 1999 he became Minister for Local Government, as well as Minister for WorkCover and Minister responsible for the TAC. In 2002 he was given his current portfolio of Agriculture.
As the member for Bendigo West, Bob Cameron is proud of the Bracks Government’s achievements in the area including health services and education but knows there’s more to be achieved.

Features: The city of Bendigo was a major gold mining centre in the nineteenth century and is a popular tourist destination. Industries include mining, dairy and sheep farming, fruit growing, manufacturing and tourism. Features include the Cairn Curran reservoir and the apple centre at Harcourt.
